Call of Duty: Black Ops Players Log 68000 Years of Game Play

January 2, 2011

Call of Duty: Black Ops is undoubtedly popular, it has smashed records across the globe and continues to dominate the UK gaming charts ahead of blockbuster games such as Gran Turismo 5 and Assassins Creed: Brotherhood.

However without numbers it’s hard to quantify just how popular the game has been thus far; thankfully Activision has released some figures to put the games stranglehold on the market into perspective. They said ” players [of COD: Black Ops] have logged 600 million hours of game play, equivalent to 68,000 years”.

The monumental amount of game play has been racked up by a huge number of players, Activision say more people have played the game than the worldwide viewing figures of the Finale of Lost – an impressive achievement.

Online play more popular despite glitches

The game has even taken on Facebook, on average people spend 55 minutes on the world’s largest social networking site compared the average of 87 minutes Black Ops owners spend playing online each day.

CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg commented “Call of Duty has in many ways become one of the world’s most engaged social networks.”

Have you played more hours on Black Ops than you did on Modern Warfare 2?
